The New York Times does a running series entitled, How race is lived in the United States. https://partners.nytimes.com/library/national/race/
I have a different question. Why is race lived in the United States?
Are there races of people?
If no, then why do we continue to live under a system that tells us there is?
When did race as a defining trait begin its use in the United States?
Will we ever stop using race?
When we check our black and white or whatever box, are we participating in the continued use of race to define us?
It’s something I think about.
